19 Position Purpose: Operate the slicer equipment as well as maintain the responsibility for the overall operation of the line.
Responsible for cutting cheese to proper weight and style.
Learn and operate the slicer & cutter and have a familiarity with the equipment, procedures and expectations of all positions relating to the operation of the line.
Work with Leaders and fellow partners to ensure Food Safety and Partner Safety.
Understand and execute standard operating procedures relative to position.
Perform all PCP and CCP checks required for position.
Follow reaction plan for Food Safety, Food Quality and customer requirement outages and by contacting TA/TL.
Essential Functions: Ascertains the days production supplies such as raw material(s), labels, film, and boxes.
Runs line breaks, operators breaks and/or vacation.
Reads production order or follows oral instructions to determine cheese type, style and packaging material required.
Sets specifications as indicated by the product, package size, labeling needs and production order.
Operates switches on the control panel to start, stop, and fine tune the machine.
Observes operation of machines to detect and correct inconsistencies.
Periodically train operators on other shifts in the operation and preventative maintenance of wrapping and labeling equipment.
Understands duties and responsibilities for all positions on the line (slice/chunk wrap, knockdown, autocaser operator, QA, box/seal, palletize) and can demonstrate proficiency in each of them.
Assist in operations as needed including general sanitation and a portion of the QA responsibilities.
Operate 2 and 3 stage and Cutters, 640 Cutter.
Operate Cheese Hoist and/or 40# Block Openers.
Insert harps in accordance to the size and style of cheese to be cut and adjusts harps for proper weight.
Replaces broken harp wires, wire tensioning bolt, and locking nuts.
Starts machine and verifies size of cut and checks accuracy of cut.
Readjusts machine to ensure specified weight of cut.
Starts conveyor belt, or automatic take off table on machines equipped with these devices.
Observes operation of machine to detect malfunctions such as jamming, wrinkling, or tearing of material.
Overtime as required according to customer needs.
Facilitate quick changeovers, maintain housekeeping, assist in cleaning, emptying trays and tubs, setup, sealing and weighing barrels, and assisting where needed.
Other duties may be assigned.
Ability and willingness to interact in a positive, professional and team-oriented manner with people at many levels and in many roles.
Ability and willingness to lead and maintain and attitude of flexibility and cooperation in all interactions.
Assist in development and implementation of SOP’s, PCP’s and GMP’s Must know and utilize safety equipment.
Maintain Process Control Points, record data accordingly.
Educational/Experience/Skills Required: (Minimum Level) EDUCATION: High School Diploma/G.

Temperatures range from approximately 40 – 50 degrees.
During sanitation activities, potential exposure to chemicals and wet conditions is likely.
Chemicals may require the use of PPE.
