Position Summary: Produce and control all phases of production at the plant to achieve quality, cost, service and safety goals.
Meet or exceed any external audits and internal audits.
Direct supervisors and other personnel to ensure that product is produced efficiently and complies with all manufacturing specifications, polices and quality standards.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: Produce quality product that meets or exceeds food safety standards and specifications determined by Ventura Foods or outside regulating agencies (FDA, USDA, County Health Dept.
, ADEM, EPA, OSHA) Manage and drive the SIS program through the production department.
Oversee changes in standards which effect daily output.
Manage to achieve daily efficiency through the facility.
Manage efforts to maintain usage of ingredients, oil, packaging and supplies within budgeted standards.
Lead efforts to reduce costs Assist the safety program to meet goals established by Ventura Foods.
Teach, train and improve techniques utilized by the workforce by developing standard operating procedures Meet or exceed any and all external audits.
Lead the internal audit groups and provide better QM techniques Investigate, implement, prepare and assist in projects requiring capital investment at the plant Maintain good morale, initiate creative ideas, encourage "outside of the box" thinking for all supervisors and employees.
Ensure that policies and procedures are administered fairly and consistently Oversee the sanitation of the facility.
Ensure correct cleaning practices are being followed and completed per the master sanitation schedule.
Manage and control facility equipment to ensure all environmental regulations at the federal, state and local government are met Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls Other duties as assigned Travel may be required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Production Management, Business or equivalent experience 5-10 years of experience in Production Management, Business Prior supervisory and/or managerial experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred Knowledge and Skills: Superior planning, coordination, analytical, observational and coaching skills are required coupled with initiative to create and embrace change Knowledge of manufacturing facility packaging, equipment and capacity Requires computer skills in Microsoft Office and Outlook Must have proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with all levels to achieve results Possess leadership skills and the ability to train, educate and motivate supervisors Physical Demands: Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s).
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.
Additional demands may be required.
Work Environment: In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and weekends as needed.
May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity.
May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
Must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety standards.
May require work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet for prolonged periods of time.
